Our bag ladies are in the magazine again

D  Als ich das neue Sonderheft von Lenas Patchwork "Trendige Taschen"  bekommen habe, erwartete ich meine Tasche mit Origami-Quadraten da zu sehen. Die war da, aber nicht nur die: das Heft ist  mit den Taschen von "meinen" Bag-Ladies vollgestopft! Unter Bag-Ladies meine ich die Teilnehmerinnen der virtuellen Gruppe "Taschen kann's nie genug sein", wie die Taschen im Heft gelandet haben, wurde hier erzählt. Und nun kann man eine neue Taschenserie in voller Pracht sehen.

E Yesterday I've got the new special issue of Lenas Patchwork magazine. There should be my Origami Square tote bag there and there was it, but not only that. A full load of bags from "my" bag ladies! I mean the members of the virtual bag group "A Girl Can't Have Too Many Handbags". I've told about it before and now you can see the rest of chosen bags!

D  Mir war schon bekannt, dass meine Chicken-Scratch-Tasche auf der Titelseite des neuen Sonderheft "Trendige Taschen" erscheinen soll. Endlich bekomme ich mein Exemplar des Hefts und was für eine Überraschung!

Die schwarz-weiße Tasche ist da, wo sie hingehört, d.h. auf der Titelseite:

E I knew already that my chicken scratch bag will be at the cover of the new special bag issue "Trendige Taschen". Now I've got the advance copy  and SURPRISE!

Our bag ladies in the Jeans Recycling magazine

D  Ich bin überglücklich und so stolz auf meine Taschenladies! Ich meine die Mitglieder von der Gruppe "Taschen kann's nie genug sein". Seit langem habe ich das Gefühl dass unsere Gruppe in der Handarbeitswelt unterschätzt wird. Wir sind keine Quilterinnen, keine Strickerinnen oder Stickerinnen, wir machen Artobjekte von Taschen. In Japan gibt es auf den Quiltshows eine Extrakategorie "Bag Quilt" für die Taschen wie die unseren. Aber hier im Abendland versteht man unter einer Tasche  oft fast immer nur eine Einkaufstüte. Ich gebe mir viel Mühe, diesen Sichtpunkt zu ändern. Aus diesem Grund habe ich vor einige Monaten die Fotos von der Taschenchallenge "Jeans Atmosphere" fürs Sonderheft Jeans-Recycling eingereicht. Viele Monate verging, gute Arbeit geleistet und endlich sind drei unsere Taschen im Heft!


E I'm so happy and so proud of my bag ladies! I mean the members of a group "A Girl Can't Have Too Many Handbags". I always consider our group under-estimated in the craft world. We are not quilters nor knitters or felters, we make art objects of a bag. In Japan there is a category on big quilt events called "Bag quilt". But for us gaijin a bag is most often only a tote. I try hard to change this point of view. Some months ago I've sent photos of our bag challenge "Jeans Atmosphere" to a German craft magazine for a special issue Jeans Recycling. It took its time, but now there are three our purses in the magazine!

Something about me in Lena's Patchwork magazine

D  "Something" bedeutet in dem Fall zwei volle Seiten! Mit Fotos von mir und von meinen quiltigen Kreationen! Und noch dazu mit meinem Quilt "Not sooo crazy" ! Ich bin überglücklich.

E "Something" means two whole pages! with photos of me and my bag/quilt creations! and another photo at the content page! and moreover, my quilt "Not sooo crazy"! I'm happy like an elf in a tree.

D  Hier sind: Orange Tree (oben), Tasche "Honeybee" (unten links, hoffentlich erscheint noch in der Zeitschrift) und... sozusagen Noname-Tasche, aus einer recycelten Flechttasche und aus anderem Recycling-Kram gemacht, hat immer noch keinen Namen

D  Last but not least kommt die letzte Umschlagseite mit dem Quilt "Not sooo crazy". Ich habe ihn für eine Challenge "Crayon" in unserer Quiltgruppe gemacht, es war mein erster Crazy-Quilt

E Last but not least the back cover with my "Not sooo crazy" quilt. It's made for the Crayon challenge in our local quilt group and was my first crazy quilt:

Me, Grumpy Frog and Co. in the Lena-Patchwork magazine

D  Ich freue mich. Ja, ich freie mich riesig! 1) Mein mürrischer Frosch erschien im neuen Taschenheft von Lena-Patchwork. Unter dem Namen Froschkönig getarnt. Aber trotzdem gut erkennbar:

E I´m happy, I´m very very happy. 1) Mein Grumpy Frog has just appeared in the new special bag issue of the Lena-Patchwork. They call him the Frog Prince. But I´ve still recognized him:

D  Eigentlich ist er eine Geldbörse mit 2 Fächer: einem metalbeschlagegen Maul und einem Reißverschlussfach oben, Ein Zopf an einer Seite ist ein Schieberanhänger. Schön und freundlich ist der Frosch, oder?

E Actually it is a coin purse with 2 pockets: a metal framed mouth and a zippered pocket on the crown (or instead of the crown?)  The green braid with buttons is a kind of zipper pull. No, it´s useless to kiss him, it`s Grumpy Frog, not any prince.

D  2) Nicht nur der Grumpy Frog ziert sich die Seiten des Heftes, sondern auch eine meiner älteren Taschen aus Tarnungstoff "Soft Military".
Die Tasche wurde aus einer ausrangierten Camouflageweste genäht und mit Crazy-Stichen verziert. Ist also "fake patchwork", die Zierstiche folgen dem Stoffmuster und nicht den Nahtlinien

E 2) Not only  the Grumpy Frog  adorns the pages of the magazine, but also the Soft Military bag, one of my former bag experiments. I´ve made it out of a camouflage west and embellished the printed boundaries with some crazy stitches.

D  Und dann, last but not least, die ganze Seite über mich und meine Taschenkreationen!  Mit  allem Drum und Dran wie Fotos, Interview, mein Name richtig geschrieben... ist es nicht ein guter Grund um froh zu sein?

E And now, last but not least, the whole page about me and my bags! With an interview, some more photos and with my name correctly spelled! Isn´t it a reason to celebrate a bit?

"Peacock Meets Vasarely" in Lena-Patchwork

D  Es dauerte 16 monate, aber endlich ist sie da! Meine schwarz-weiße Tasche "Pfau trifft Vasarely" ist im "Lena-Patchwork". Sogar ein kleines Foto auf der Titelseite.

E It took 16 month but at last it´s happened - my bag "Peacock Meets Vasarely" is in the current issue of "Lena-Patchwork". Even at the cover there´s a little picture of it.

D  Ehrlich zu sagen, gefallen mir die Fotos nicht besonders. Erstens: man kann den Taschenriemen so gut wie nicht sehen und ich bin sehr stolz auf ihn. Zweitens: man sollte die Karabinerhaken unten nicht aufmachen, sonst unterscheidet sich die Tasche kaum von einem Kissenbezug. Also, meine eigene Fotos sind besser:

E I can´t say I like the photos. You can hardly see the handle and I´m very proud of the handle. And with the hooks unfastened it looks rather like a pillow case than a designer bag. My own photos are better:

D  Von den Seitennähten und dem Reißverschluss abgesehen, ist die Tasche völlig handgemacht, d.h. von Hand appliziert, gepatcht und gequiltet. Ich habe sie für unsere erste virtuelle Taschenchallenge namens "Round Secret" gemacht und mag sie sehr.

E Apart from the side seams and the zipper the bag is made entirely by hand. I´ve made it for our first virtual bag challenge "Round Secret" and I love it.
